dc.description.abstract In this study four samples of ground water were collected from Elnuhud area (Elnuhud City, Wadbanda City, Elbaltagy village Abukheratesh village) West Kordofan State - Sudan ,and analyses were performed the following parameters ( pH, EC, TDS), hardness as CaCO3 , cations (Na+ , K+ and Ca+2 ) , an aions ( Cl- , SO4 -2 ,CO3 -2 and HCO3 - ). The results showed that the pH values for all sample falls between (7.05 - 7.78), hence all the samples were slightly alkaline (pH > 7). The results of electrical conductivity (EC) for all the samples between (145 -538 µmohs/cm) were in agreement with those values reported by WHO standards.TDS values for all the samples falls between (88 - 370 ppm) were within the permissible value of WHO (1000 ppm). The results of chloride ion (Cl- ) concentration for all the samples falls between (23.8 - 129 ppm) were in agreement with WHO standards (250 ppm Cl- ) .The results showed that the concentration of sulfate for all the samples is (0.05 - 0.164 ppm) in permissible level of WHO standards (400ppm). The results showed that the concentration of carbonate ion (CO3 -2 ) for all the samples between (24-48 ppm). Also the results showed that the concentration of bicarbonate ion (HCO3 - ) for all the samples between (42.7-61ppm) in permissible level of WHO standards (500 ppm). For hardness, two samples (A and B) (70 - 86 ppm) were classified as moderately soft, and another two samples (C and D) (136 - 190 ppm) were classified as slightly hard and moderately hard respectively. The concentration of cations: Na+ between (9.78 - 40 ppm), K+ between (0.0574 - 4.21 ppm) and Ca+2 between (6 - 13.6 ppm) for all the samples were within the permissible level of WHO (200 ppm Na+ , 10 ppm K+ and 200ppm Ca2+). From the study we found that all water samples were accepted for all purposes en_US
