Abstract
This study aimed to identify the negative void in graphic design and its impact
on the readability of Sudanese electronic newspapers by applying to Akhbar Al Youm, akhirlahza, Al-Rakkoba newspapers. This study used the method of mutual
relations and the survey method to identify the importance of negative space in
design. In order to achieve this, the study relied on two tools (content analysis and
observation) in collecting and analyzing data, as the analysis form contained (44)
standard units.
One of the most important findings of the study is that electronic newspapers
do not use the space between letters because the media content in them is written
in the Arabic language, whose letters are written together. And that some electronic
newspapers are excessive in the use of photographic images in large sizes, within
their media content, which leads to slow loading and difficulty in readability. The
study concluded that the electronic newspapers are not concerned with linguistic
and grammatical scrutiny, which leads to a thin style and poor content, something
that pushes readers away from following the media content in the newspaper .
