Abstract

The glorious revolution in ophthalmology and eye care service necessitates the need for highly qualified personnel for perfect performance. Optometry is an integral health care profession that is autonomous, continuously educates, upgraded and legislated. Optometrists are the primary health care practitioners of eye and visual system as well as they are one of community ophthalmology and blindness combating pillars. They provide valuable comprehensive eye and vision care which includes refraction and dispensing, re habitation conditions of visual system and detection, diagnosis and management of some ocular diseases. Sudan is a leading country in optometry education since 1954. Optometry is a health care profession which is concerned with the health of the eyes and related structures. The BSc of optometry is an undergraduate optometric course which offers a professionally recognized qualification preparing for a flexible and rewarding career in optometry. Optometrists work with other health professionals including general medical practitioners and ophthalmologists to ensure the best eye and vision health outcomes for the population.
