dc.description.abstract Introduction: Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, West Kordofan University was established in December 2006 at Gheibaish town. It aims at achieving the following goals: 1. To offer a well qualified, skillful and excellent vets capable of bridging the gap in vets in the Sudan in general and the local territory in particular. 2. To develop and promote the huge numbers of livestock in the region and to offer health care and medical treatment. Vision The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine aspires to be one of the leading centers of excellence in veterinary education and applied research regionally and internationally. Curriculum: The professional curriculum is a five-year course of study leading to the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine degree. Each of the five years of the curriculum consists of two semesters.The first two years of the professional curriculum, aimed at preparing veterinary students for a wide range of clinical experience during the last three years of the educational programme. Subjects that are considered the back-bone for the forthcoming course are taught in these first two years. These subjects are Chemistry and Biochemistry, Physics, Biology, Physiology and Anatomy.
